The 了 in 住了 is the done-deal 了, not a past-tense button. Even the question words split: 你几月来 asks which month, 你几个月来 asks how many months from now.

Chinese dates run big to small: year, then month, then day. English runs the other way.
月 covers both 'moon' and 'month' because a month is one full cycle of the moon. Inside a date, that 月 sits between the year and the day: 2024年5月3日. Said out loud, it is 五月三号, with no 个 and no 份. On a form, 年、月、日 sit in exactly that fixed order, from biggest unit to smallest. Write it English-style with the month first and a Chinese reader has to stop and decode it.
