请 usually means you're being polite or picking up the bill. Tell a coworker "我请你帮我拿一下" and you sound like you're hiring a butler. 叫 is plain and flat, like calling someone over — fine for friends, rude to your boss. 让 is the safe middle: a neutral instruction with no politeness invoice attached. When in doubt with peers and small favors, 让 is what people actually say. Also remember 让 doubles as 'allow': 妈妈不让我熬夜 means mom won't let you stay up.

Chinese builds 'for me' into the plan instead of tacking it on at the end. Slot 给我 right before the action verb and the sentence lands clean. Put it last and it sounds like an afterthought, especially once the sentence gets long. Short face-to-face commands do allow a tail 给我, like 递杯水给我, so it's not a hard ban. But inside a 让/叫/请 sentence, before the verb is the default natives reach for.

Count what comes after 叫. One person plus nothing else means a name. One person plus an action verb means a command, and that's the shape this pattern is about. So 我叫他老王 gives him a nickname, while 我叫他老王去开会 sends him to a meeting. Read the story line and you'll see the naming job in action: “他叫高友朋，是一个北京人。” ── 《友好的高友朋》. Same character, completely different sentence skeleton underneath.

English lets 'I asked him' stand alone because the action is obvious from context. Chinese doesn't play that game: 我让他 leaves the listener hanging and mentally asking 让他干嘛? You need the action verb, even a short one like 走 or 来. There's one famous shortcut worth knowing, and it belongs to 请: 今天我请你 is a complete sentence meaning 'my treat.' 让 and 叫 never get that free pass.

Put 不 in the action slot and you're granting permission to skip, not giving an order. 我让他不来 means you let him off the hook. To actually forbid the action, switch to 别: 我让他别来 or 叫他别来. So 我让他不去 isn't broken Chinese, it just means 'I allowed him not to go.' Pick 别 when you're the one calling the shots.
