Mandarin pronunciation is often seen as difficult—not because of single syllables, but because of tones. Traditional textbooks claim there are "4 tones", but in actual spoken Chinese, there are 7 distinct tones. For example, over 90% of the time, the "3rd tone" is pronounced as a simple "low-falling tone" rather than the theoretical "falling-rising tone".

Language education has always been at the heart of Jiao Yu's life—his name "Jiao Yu" (焦雨) sounds just like the Chinese word for "education" (教育). Born in Shandong, the birthplace of Confucius, he has dedicated his life to sharing the beauty of the Chinese language with the world.

Before committing to education, Jiao Yu worked as a scriptwriter at the Documentary Center of Shandong TV (1994–2001) and later as an educational documentary producer at China Central Television (CCTV, 2001–2002). While tracing Chinese workers during the Wild West period in the United States, he observed how the Chinese language evolved overseas, sparking his lifelong pursuit for natural and practical teaching methods.
Mohist Philosophy as a Foundation
